The South Korean Ministry of Health has discovered several products from Shein, Temu and AliExpress contain hazardous chemicals which far exceed legal limits. These hazardous chemicals include phthalates over 229 times the legal limit in a pair of Shein shoes, lead in Temu sandals at 11 times the legal limit, formaldehyde in Shein’s caps at double the legal limit, and dioxane at 3.6 times the legal limit in 2 bottles of nail polish from Shein. Many of these chemicals are known carcinogens and reproductive toxins. Some of the items tested which contained harmful chemicals were children’s products. Children are especially vulnerable to toxic chemicals, especially phthalates.
